This National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA photo obtained October 1, 2014 shows an estimated 35,000 walrus as they gather on shore on September 23, 2014 about 5 miles(8 km) north of Point Lay, Alaska according to NOAA. The huge gathering was spotted during NOAA’s annual arctic marine mammal aerial survey, spokeswoman Julie Speegle said. The survey is conducted with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the agency that oversees offshore lease sales.
