Unas 35 personas podían estar en hotel al ser sepultado por un alud en Italia

Unas 35 personas se encontraban en el hotel Rigopiano de Frindola (centro de Italia) en el momento en el que fue sepultado por un alud, estimó hoy el subsecretario de la región de Abruzos y responsable de Protección Civil, Mario Mazzoca.





“Las personas registradas oficialmente por la Jefatura de Policía son menos, veintidós, además de siete trabajadores. Sin embargo es verosímil que hubiera invitados, por lo que el número debería ser ese”, dijo Mazzoca en declaraciones recogidas por los medios.

El hotel balneario Rigopiano se encuentra situado a 1.300 metros de altitud en el macizo del Gran Sasso, en la cordillera de los Apeninos, y el miércoles fue arrollado por un alud de nieve que lo destruyó y lo sepultó prácticamente por completo.

A pesar de las complicadas condiciones meteorológicas que se registran en la zona, con copiosas nevadas y fuertes ventiscas, los equipos de rescate llegaron a la zona de madrugada y Protección Civil ha confirmado que por el momento se ha recuperado un cadáver.

Los servicios de socorro rescataron a dos supervivientes, Giampiero Parete y Fabio Salzetta, que en el momento del alud se encontraban fuera del hotel y que, tras refugiarse en un coche, pudieron dar la voz de alarma sobre lo ocurrido.

Los esfuerzos en busca de los desaparecidos prosiguen sin descanso.

El alud, que arrastró rocas y árboles, se originó supuestamente por la serie de terremotos que se sucedieron durante el miércoles, cuatro de ellos con una magnitud superior a 5 en la escala de Richter y tres registrados en el lapso de una hora. EFE
