The first vice-president of the National Assembly, Juan Pablo Guanipa, assured this Thursday that the European Union (EU) maintains its firm position of not recognizing the electoral farce of Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship.

“There is no way that the European Union can endorse the farce of December 6th. The fact that there are some people in the EU who are trying to somehow stretch things out to reach a certain level is something different from what has been the EU’s strong position of not recognizing a process if it does not comply with some very clear parameters that they have established,” indicated Guanipa in a message divulged on Twitter.
The parliamentarian from Zulia State explained that as long as Maduro continues to violate the Constitution by organizing an illegitimate process, no democratic body in the world will recognize such a process.
“The framework for us is the National Constitution and there is no way for Maduro to respect the Constitution, he is not going to change the date of his electoral farce, that farce is going to go un recognized, not only by America but also by Europe and we are going to continue exerting internal pressure which, together with international pressure, is going to be the fundamental factor for achieving political change in Venezuela,” he concluded.
