The Deputy of the National Assembly (NA), Larissa González, insisted this Monday that the indigenous peoples of Venezuela are in danger because of Nicolás Maduro’s regime.

The member of the Amazonian Parliament explained that the indigenous people in Venezuela are victims of human rights violations because of the dictatorship.
“Today our indigenous peoples do not celebrate, they resist,” he said through his personal Twitter account.
González also denounced the fact that the ancestral lands that used to be owned by indigenous people were stolen by mafias that control the territory. In addition, she recalled that they suffer from hunger, disease, and abandonment by the state.
“Without food, school, or health care, our indigenous people travel long distances to escape death,” she ended.
This October 12th, the ‘Día de la Raza’ (Day of the Race) is celebrated in Venezuela. However, the indigenous peoples are one of the most affected by the crisis created by Maduro’s regime.
Hundreds of natives have been killed by armed groups seeking to dominate indigenous land, while others have had to flee Venezuela in search of refuge.
